Direct technical assistance
In-country training and mentoring in diagnostic testing at all technical levels, implementation of quality
systems based on international standards, advice on appropriate technologies, procurement and
support of equipment and supplies, strengthening of local supply chains and service delivery.

Training
Project management training for scientists. Development of new training programs and workshops.
Enhancement and roll-out of existing training packages. Use of the WHO Acid Fast Direct Smear
Microscopy and the CDC HIV Rapid Test Training Packages. We have in-house expertise in clinical,
technical, project management and laboratory management training.

Strategic planning and policy development
Coordination and facilitation of joint meetings to develop national strategic plans and policies for
laboratory services. Technical assistance in the post-planning phase to develop specific activities that
ensure implementation.

Comprehensive needs assessments and program evaluation
Evaluation of scientific capacity building programs including analyses of personnel and training,
financial resource allocation and the impact of technical assistance on patients, staff and service
quality. In-depth, in-country site assessments at laboratories and educational facilities.
