Dr. Donnenberg is a scientific and clinical advisor to GSSHealth. He holds an MD from Columbia University,
NY. He has cared for patients with HIV/AIDS since the onset of the epidemic in the early 1980s and served as
a preceptor for clinicians in Nigeria. Dr. Donnenberg has published more than one hundred articles, reviews
and book chapters in the area of infectious disease and is the recipient of the Oswald Avery award from the
Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). He is a fellow of both the IDSA and the American Academy of
Microbiology. Dr. Donnenberg serves as Professor of Medicine, Professor of Microbiology and Immunology and
Associate Chairman for Research at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine.

Dr. Fernandes is the Founder of GSSHealth. She has seventeen years of experience in clinical laboratory
science, research and public health programs. She has worked in clinical microbiology, molecular biology and
public health laboratories across the UK. In addition to research on bacterial vaccine candidates, Dr. Fernandes
has extensive field and program management experience in laboratory capacity building across sub-Saharan
Africa, particularly in the area of TB and TB/HIV collaborative activities. Dr. Fernandes holds a B.Sc. in
Biotechnology from Westminster University in London and a Ph.D. in Genetics from Cambridge University, UK.
